Controversy? Amherst JV A forfeited their semifinal against Amherst Varsity and then Amherst went on to beat Needham 14-12 ... having played one less game on the day.

Minnesota Champs

Girls: Cretin Durham Hall over Hopkins 10-8

Boys: Cretin Durham Hall over Mounds View 15-3

no scores guaranteed. just what i think they were.

That is a falsehood, varsity beat JVA 15-2 in the semi-finals and went on to play their THIRD game against Needham, which was a hard fought and well spirited final.

oh, the score card on the sidelines stopped at 8-2 and it seemed like they stopped playing, unless the second half happened in 5 minutes, it looked as though JV A forfeited the second half to rest up and dry off varsity for the finals since there was a huge downpour during that round

it's true, Needham and Longmeadow finished their game in the rain, while JVA and Varsity quit and sat under tents

SUCH A NASTY FINALS GAME

the reason it appeared that Jva and varsity stopped playing is because they had started about fifteen minutes before the Needham v. meadow game. Also generally when a team wins 15-2 and another team goes to cap, the game with the cap is going to take longer. In this case the Needham v. meadow game took about twenty to thirty minutes longer. So yes the amherst semi was quick, but it definitely happened.

ARHS JV-A did not forfeit their game against Varsity. As mentioned above, our game started early and the other semi started a little bit late. The game went by quickly, but the entire game was played. The talk about a forfeit is not true at all.
Congratulations to all the teams that played yesterday.

Congrats to the Amherst guys for another state championship...loved playing you guys this year, it was a fun little rivalry (though you got the best of us) with some really great and hard-fought games...fun shit.

This weekend ends the juniors ultimate spring season! And what a season it was ... much more interesting than last year, with lots of teams putting together great seasons.

Now preparation for YCC's and the club season begins in earnest!

Who won georgia states?

Anonymous said...

what YCC teams are supposed to be good year.......who would be the best pick for winner?

SEATTLE FOR OPEN NO QUESION
PAIDEA FOR MIXED
SEATTLE FOR GIRLS

Unknown said...

Oregon for girls? And a lot of the open teams look good, not just Seattle. Also, Philly will look to bring it in the mixed division.

Anonymous said...

Pittsburgh and NJ may be strong for open. Word is NJ is getting some very talented college playeres

Anonymous said...

oregon girls are good, no doubt about that with churchill winning westerns. But the seattle area has a huge pool to pick from, 5 girls teams, lots of mixed teams, worlds players, club players...

i think seattle just has the largest base of players, which is why their girls team(and boys) are so successful.

word.... Oregon girls are gonna suprise alot of teams though.

Finals

Seattle 15 Oregon 7

Anonymous said...

correction... Oregon 15 Seattle 7

whoa there. its a little early to be spitting out the numbers yeah?

and what about amherst? i heard that they were sending a girls team.

Anonymous said...

dont you mean MA? There are more than just Amherst players that will be on both MA teams, open and girls

Unknown said...

Yeah, the combined Amherst/Needham/assorted open team and Amherst/Andover/assorted girls team will both be very strong.

Anonymous said...

Seattle will own open and girls divisions noquestion. Even with Darden, Sam kanner, robin and all the amazing players, seattle beat amherst 15-11. Seattle will win. Nobody will get more than 10 in either division.

Anonymous said...

Seattle's open team will basically be last year's open team, except with NO loose ends, and every player is at their HS peak basically, tons of seniors, and they will simply dominate and it will be quite a spectacle.

So, they're going to lose to Colorado again? Sweet. Go Colorado!

Anonymous said...

seattle will kill colorado. and by kill i mean bagel. they are pissed from last year. put your money up.

Anonymous said...

I would never count out New England.....

pittsburgh has the best handlers in the country. Hands down. Alex Thorne and Ben Funk

Anonymous said...

are you kidding?
have you ever heard of jeremy norden?

Anonymous said...

Minnesota?

Anonymous said...

thorne plays for north hills, so they are only good when they cheat

there is no chance they are the best in the country, guys like Noah Saul could run them into the ground

Anonymous said...

jesse moy?

Anonymous said...

All teams are gonna be strong
Even NJ has some sick players like Zander, Jesse, D-backs from P-huc is also an insane, really underatted player. Hopefully these guys will play for NJ to make it more competitive.

I doubt it got played that weekend, what with the tropical storm. But I have no idea!

Stephen Panasci and I are coming back with a season of college ultimate under our belts ... let's see it Dirty Jerz.

Anonymous said...

just wondering...is that legit? college players at YCC?

Anonymous said...

yes, under 19. And North Hills doesn't even have the best handlers in the state, that belongs to Pennsbury, and its not even close. Nice try though

Anonymous said...

seattle has by far the best handlers with Jeremy Norden, Ben Vigus, and Nigel Peltier plus a bunch more solid handlers.

Anonymous said...

All we can conclude about open YCCS is that its gonna be sick to watch. All teams are gonna be sick. The thing about NJ is they probably are going to have a strong starting line but not much depth. There aren't many other great NJ hs players aside from the aforementioned.

Anonymous said...

speaking of college players in YCCs...just heard that kanner and robin might play for MA team...anyone know if that's true?

The Pulse said...

Both too old ... kanner turned 19 in january and Robin did in september

Anonymous said...

thaanks, good to know, apparently the people i talked to didn't know what they were talking about

Anonymous said...

NJ is going to be good...Columbia with a smattering of players from Princeton and Watchung Hills. PHUL, on the other hand, looks like its going to get rocked. North Hills came 5th at Easterns compared to other 3rd, 2nd, or 1st place teams at Easterns and Westerns that will be the core of their region's team.

Anonymous said...

and the massachusetts team has the 2nd and 3rd place finishers at easterns to make the core of their team with amherst and needham, although needhams main handler with a bomb for a forehand can't make it to minnesotta

plus mass has andrew hollingworth coming back from a year at tufts and alex kapinos. both played on worlds

I see Seattle Mixed has gone 4-3 at Oregon Rex.

MA Mixed has Ow-My-Knee coming up after competing in Boston Open division (as a mixed team).

Pittsburgh Open goes to more tournaments before YCC than any other teamm, except perhaps MA Mixed this year.

What other teams are making it out to the Club scene in preparation of YCC? What other teams have more than 4 practices?
