Best practices: How does your team keep in touch?

This is going to be an ongoing feature on the site, called "Best Practices" where we ask the readers to submit their ideas, thoughts on a given topic and then report back. There is a ton of knowledge out there and we'd like to consolidate it and make it accessible for newer teams and players. This is based off of the Lifehacker feature "Hive Five".

So the first question - How does your team keep in touch?

Some use google groups, email chains, BBoards, blogspot accounts, facebook groups?

What works best for your team and why?

A side note, you should now have to sign up to comment. You can sign up with a fake name, fake email address or whatever you would like to keep your anonymity should you desire. But we are trying to cut down on spam, and inanity. Once you log in you will be able to rank comments as well so you will be able to tell who you should pay attention to in the threads, fun.

I send out mass text messages.

AIM lets you send text messages to any phone by adding +1 to any the number. So to send a text to (555) 555 5555, you would add +15555555555 to your buddy list and simply IM it.

This in addition Trillian's ability to send mass messages on AIM lets you have a free mass texting system from your computer. I made an AIM account just for the ultimate team.

Has anyone used Twitter effectively to communicate with teams? We have used it to update fans with scores from the sidelines of games but never as communicating among team members for practices etc.
YHB has been using Facebook the last year. It is a very effective tool for our team. We have a group on Facebook where you can post information, the captains and coaches also have the ability to send out messages to the whole team. We can get scrims together in the off season pretty easily via facebook, and spread the word about upcoming events.
I am proud to announce the 4th Annual Born to Dive, which is to be hosted @ Pennsbury High School once again, on the weekend of April 25th and 26th.

Last year the tournament was a huge success. This year not only will we have great competition (Teams such as Columbia High School, Amherst High School, and North Hills have showed interest), we will also be coming out with a new line of VC Ultimate gear just as we did last year. And, once again, we will be selling Pennsbury Discs. The tournament will be one of the most elite High School tournaments of the year, if not THE elite tournament of the year. We will provide food and water both days, and additional baked goods and drink sales will be going around on site. The Pennsbury ultimate team will also be providing housing on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS, to as many as we can accommodate.

All teams must have at least one chaperon.

The tournament will most likely be UPA sanctioned, so members of the team will need to be UPA Members, and provide signed waivers.
