Paideia Cup 2008

This is one of the best tournaments I have ever been to -- Paideia hospitality really is unreal! :)

From Mr. Kyle B:
I am pleased to announce that applications are now available for the Paideia Cup (April 12th-13th).

This elite HS Ultimate tournament is back for a third year and once again hoping to host the 8 best high school boys and girls teams in the country. Come down to Atlanta for the highest level of HS Ultimate and some good ol' southern hospitality.

Cost: $300
Housing provided by the world famous Paideia Parents
Free Dinner on Saturday night.

Tournament info should soon be available on the UPA website.

To request an application e-mail Michael at:

Who's Kyle B?

Paideia Cup will be a UPA Sanctioned Event. So if you are planning to play in this, your State Championship and/or HS Easterns/Westerns, you should start getting your UPA membership/waivers together now. It's really easy if you do it online!

I think KyleB is a fusion of Kyle W + Michael B ;)

Eeep! :)

All this talk about having the top teams at Paidiea Cup and then Pennsbury gets denied? This is an outrage wich shaddered many young men's dreams of visiting Atlanta for one of the most elite tournaments. Pennsbury's team had graduated everyone on there squad except for 4 players. It sucks that some dumb actions of last years team members affected the fait of this completley rebuilt team. Way to go Paidia making the ultimate scene as big as it can be.............not........

Stop. Before this even gets started. Stop. Pennsbury is completely in the wrong in this and Paideia took the necessary actions. Anyone who thinks differently is an idiot. Pennsbury tried desperately to get into Paideia Cup last year after questionable behavior their first year in attendance. The team was accepted, with open arms, and gives very fair warnings that absolutely no ill behavior would be tolerated. They crossed the line of ill behavior, they stole items from another team. From two other teams, and are paying the price. This is not something that should be held against Paideia at all, Pennsbury had an ignorant stupid player who they couldn't keep under control and he ended up costing them and the future team their reputation and a shot at one of the best tournaments of the year. WE, will hopefully be in attendance at AI, and will see Paideia at Easterns. This is a statement by Paideia that needed to be made.

So far i have heard that pennsbury got denied and north hills doesnt plain on attending....what is this tournament shaping up to be? What teams have sent bids....

East coast has recently consisted of two things...Paideia Cup and Easterns...Those are the biggest tournaments of everyones lives. I completley agree with Paideia's reasoning for their tournament and Isaac's statements, but if only we could look at the real picture. We are in the mist of one of the fastests growing sports in the world and High School Ultimate especially on the rise. With the east coast being so limited with compitition it is hard to imagine not having the top teams, and the deffending champions for that matter. From what i have read pennsburys prevous team jepordized the future for their school legacy forever. Lets not let bitter old feuds affect the present time of the upcoming spring season. This seems to have started a bitter rivalry between schools, but please everyone stick to your roots and just play the game that we all love so much....THE ULTIMATE

I believe Columbia has sent in a bid ... likely Amherst as well.

And when did Amherst Invite stop being an elite east coast tournament?

Anonymous said...

When Paideia and North Hills stopped going.

North Hills never started going.

North Hills is hoping to go to Hopkins Hustle...the elite tournament of the spring

tootie has a point. If any of you wonderful east coast teams are tired of playing the same teams over and over again, Hopkins Hustle is May 3rd and 4th, YES WE KNOW, the same weekend as amherst invitational. You can all find bids at http://hopkinshustle.googlepages.com/ if you're interested. it's gonna be the bomb, and everyone and anyone should put in a bid.

Or you can come to Atlanta April 12-13 where it'll be be warm and sunny that time of year (wait, ok, so last year was uncharacteristic and crazy weather, but clearly %'s are in our favor {;-)...

Deadline for applying for the Paideia Cup is coming up and we're ready to roll out the red carpet for attending teams.

Once again, we will be having UPA Club Nationals annual culinary sensation Andy Grimes providing gourmet food from "The Pickle", entertainment, SUNNY ATLANTA WEATHER!, and families eager to host out of town teams like they were their own first born. So if you haven't already, email us for an application. It's going to be a blast and so is the action on the field.

I thought this needed to be reposted. Issac really steps up big, and has some really thoughtful things to say.
