How are they doing the pools with 11 teams?

I can definetly see a NW-CHS final. This is going to be a good year.

The format that took place last year when there were 11 teams as well was to do 2 pools (one of 5 and one of 6). The pool of 5 simply got one more bye round per team. Pool play games also extended into Sunday morning with the last round from 8:30-9:45am.
Following pool play, the bottow 3 teams (A5, B5, B6) all got thrown into a Round Robin for 9th-11th place.
Everyone else got seeded into a standard 8 team single elimination Championship Bracket.

Nathan Hale lost Hana Kawai (if you'll remember, she severely hurt her shoulder a few weeks before Westerns, and learned to throw lefty before dominating in Boulder).

They are retaining Drew Johnson, Elizabeth Arakaki, and Fiona McKibben, if I recall correctly. (Drew, Hana, and Fi are all World Champs.)

Actually, both Fiona McKibben and Drew Johnson are not eligible to play for Hale this year, as neither of them go there. i'm pretty sure Fiona goes to the Bush School, and they got a bid.

but even without these players, Nathan Hale will still have a great team.

i know that south eugene only had a few players last year, and graduated some of the players.

do they have enough girls to field a 100% south eugene team??

So i think we can all agree that CHS, NWS and Nathan Hale are all looking pretty solid this year. Washington and Oregon have really great ultimate programs. But what those other teams? Any predictions?

South has some new freshmen this year that played on the Rooselvelt middle school team, but even with them they still only have about 8 girls.

it will be chuchill over nw in the finals 17-14. nathan hale will loose to churchill in the semis and hopkins to nw

nooooo,

NW over Churchill for sure.

17-11

Northwest is too deep and Churchill will not beat them. How did churchill do last year at westerns?

i think that just like last year the determining factor will be who has the easier road to the finals. last year NW and Hale both showed that on any given day the game could go either way (NW won states Hale won westerns) and at westerns Hale was simply able to put away teams faster and get more rest time. all of those top teams can play it will simply be who can put away teams better and not kill themselves before the end.

CHS and NW both have large, talented rosters, and so while its easy to imagine both of them playing in the final, it will be a hard fought game for both team.

anonymous above me brought up a good point, Hale, while maybe not the strongest this year, does a lot of conditioning and is likely keep their strength throughout the tournament.
