Huck or You're Nothing was officially cancelled -- rain around here was just too bad and fields were awful.

Good to see Amherst not missing a beat.

...now let's look forward to Born to Dive!

who were the surprise teams of Paidiea? Hopkins beats Paideia 11-7?...who is hopkins? where are they from? Do they have a coach? give me some info on some of these teams that came out of nowhere. CHUF? Pennsbury? Hopkins?

Churchill swept Oregon's state tournament. Both the men and women went undefeated. South Eugene women got 2nd. And Cresent Valley (Tribe) got 2nd in open. They played a really great game with us that pushed both our teams to the limit. We ended up winning by 2. They are going to be a great team at Westerns.

hopkins came out of nowhere by getting third at easterns last year, repeating as champs at HBTS in winnipeg in the fall and then not attending any hs tourneys unitl paidiea. 10 strong seiniors and some impressive height.

hopkins took amherst to half 8-7, but crumbled under their d in the second half to lose 15-10. great game with impressive o's and d's by each team.

CHUF is from North Carolina i believe.

Pennsbury is traditionally a strong team from Philly area's PHUEL. One of the oldest teams in the area its graduates now play for some of the best programs in the nation - Fraggle at Pittsburgh among others.

This year they are rocking an insane junior class led by legacy player and WJUC alternate Noah Saul. Other big names there -

Franky Frank: big dreads, big Ds, big grabs, big dreads.

Isaac Saul: the Saul dynasty continues, brother of Noah, and before him Reuben who led Pennsbury to some PHUEL titles back in the day, if im not mistaken.

im sure someone else can give a better run down, i havent played against them since pa states last year (they made it to quarters)

Since 1999, Pennsbury has been one of the most consistently competitive squads in the PHUEL league. City Champions in 2001 and State Champions in 2004. They did not participate in PHUEL City Championships from 2002 - 2004 due to a steady conflict with their senior prom.

The consistency of the team can be partially acredited to the Saul family who has had a member on the team since 2000. After the oldest Reuben graduated in 2004, next oldest Noah took over as a sophmore. That same year a B team was formed (B-Unit) which 8th grader Isaac Saul was voted co-captain of (Only player not in high school on the team). This year the core from B-unit (including Isaac) graduated onto A to help round out the already strong squad. With the B unit still going strong and a strong sophmore class already on A, the stage is set for Pennsbury to continue as a force in PHUEL, PA, and the nation.

Pennsbury is also the only PHUEL team whose players particpate in MCUDL summer league instead of PADA.

Strong support from alumni keep the Peyote a tight nit family even with more and more players joining each year.

We had Paideia, 11-7 game to 12. We just couldnt score they played insane D and we couldnt catch a break. Fatigue set in and we lost our flow.

The Paideia cup was a huge success. I have never been to a tourney that was so well organized, and had such great competition. The spirit of the weekend was so refreshing to me.

What is so surprising, in answer to previous questions posed, is not any team, but the players who represented the teams. Not only are they great ultimate players and uphold the spirit of the game but the majority of the kids I talked to were sophomores or juniors. Next year's Paideia Cup will be even better because the level of competition will be close to the same with so many returning players from all the teams that participated.

As a Hopkins player, I would like to send out my personal thanks to all players, coaches and persons involved. (And for those who were there, to that we say, yo-hun!)

YO-HUN, it was a pleasure to play against your team, even with that one travel call that resulted in a 7 min. delay. GOOD LUCK at Westerns Hurt.
