click the "continue reading" link for as much detailed information as you can possibly handle at one time about these guys... (names that are italicized and bolded above we have something to say about)

ps - we will update this post regularly as we gain more information about those accepted from our contributors and your comments.

Brennenborg, Chris - coming from Western PA's own PHUL, Chris is definitely a worthy choice for these tryouts. He has played on the Pittsburgh club team - Burgh - in the past year, where i had the chance to watch him play at club regionals in Virginia. Very active and aggressive mark, and also a significantly dangerous handler, cuts are quick, and from what i saw he had the energy and stamina to hang on defense with some of the better club players in the mid-atlantic region.

Burnim, Sam - Sam has gotten aLOT of hype over at rsd this past fall college season. he is currently playing for Maryland in the mid-atlantic region, which i had the chance to play against at the uDel SHOWdown tournament this fall. I matched up against him for a few of the points, and learned a decent amount about him. His cuts, are relatively well placed and timed, but general speed on the cuts is not at the level of alot of these other guys. At the tryouts i imagine sam will rely on his handling skills to get him a nod for the team. Simply put, a lot of his throws are rediculous, it will be interesting to see, though, how an active mark and good strike calls have an affect on that.

Fast, Harrison - one of our contributors here at PlayUltimate, Harrison plays for Cherry Creek HS in Colorado. His team made it to HS Westerns this past year which is definitely saying something.

Hollingworth, Andrew
- one of our own contributors, hailing from Amherst, Mass. and if you play high school ultimate or follow the scene, you know what that means. He's good.

Ip, Andrew - great player from Wissahickon in PHUEL, all around athletic, tall and a solid deep, he was forced into a bit of a handler season last year because of personell issues at Wiss, but i doubt this had a negative affect on his overall game. Biggest mistake? wasting a year of eligibility by going to Penn State, which is still suspended until at least next year i believe? either way, his height is a huge asset coming in somewhere at around 6' 2" his high release backhand is downright annoying to defend.

Lahey, Taylor -
Bay Area's Finest. Senior from Castro Valley High, California. Has played with Las Positas College for at least 2 years, played with the Oakland Oaks OPEN Club team last season. Taylor is fast, he gets open easy with perfectly timed cuts. Probably the smartest guy I've ever played with, he is always exactly where he needs to be on the field, never in the way, or standing still. Sick handler, rarely turns the disc, and he has a huge backhand.

Peters, Eddie
- CB East's own, hailing from Doylestown area in the Philadelphia suburbs Eddie is ruling the skys in PHUEL, i matched up against him in our quarterfinal game of PHUEL city champs and literally the first 5 or six points were back and forth full lengths of the field deep huck on O to him in the end zone and then he was forced to play D the other way on long hucks. By the 3rd or 4th back and forth 70 yard sprint, i was starting to breath a little heavier, but Eddie was barely breaking rythm. Very spirited player, and also very fundamentally sound under the coaching of Rob Olson. Spring Phuel All-Star 2005

Pitts, Darden - ive watched some of his play from a DVD of youth club natties last year, and hes quite good. coming from Amherst, its expected. but further than this Darden played for DOG last year. Yes, as in the open club team that was in the quarterfinals against the Seattle Sockeye. He's tall, he's quick, and he gets low on his backhands.

Saul, Noah
- currently a junior at Pennsbury high school in the Philadelphia area, helped take his team to quarterfinals in the PA state championship last year, and semifinals of PHUEL city champs. a solid cutter, very fast, very prone to layouts. fundamentally sound - his older brother, reuben played in PHUEL in its very early days and arguably started one of the leagues inherent legacies with his brothers Noah and now Isaac who is a freshman now. Spring PHUEL All-Star 2005

Sung, Matt -
Another savage from Castro Valley HS, played with Las Positas for at least two years. I know he played Club last season, but not sure where. Matt is probably the sickest handler from the West Coast (if not, he's very close behind Eli Janin), he can put the disc wherever he wants. Breaks marks with ease, master of every throw and he's pretty quick. Matt is also one of the nicest players I know, usually smiling and joking throughout games.

more will be updated as the day progresses, and as we learn more about those who will be traveling to tryouts.

congratulations though to all who have been selected.

As a unit, these guys work together with some badass choreography. They've played together for so long, and they know eachother so well, they can run the 2-man give-and-go on anybody. I would surely have them both on my Worlds team.

others:

Robin Stewart-Demartino- Senior at Amherst high and played this past season for club nationals qualifier, Metal. Nightmare on defense, one of the best marks you'll ever see at this level.

Sam Kanner- Amherst High, maybe the best player on their team. Attacks defenses well with both throws and cuts.

George Stubbs- Another Paideia player and another Juniors player who was at Club nationals this fall playing with Atlanta's Chain. Solid offensive player with very strong throws.

Eddie Peters got picked over Dan Zygmundfelt? Ouch. Zig got Big Rick Atkins to write his recommendation, the same big rick who is in the ultimate history book for 3 or more titles (worlds, masters and college). There is obviously some sort of biased of Cheltenham players just like how they were robbed of their Easterns bid last year. Mccabe how are you not gonna mention Big ol' Andrew Ip from Wissahickon in your write up. as a PHUEL alumni im hurt!

The way I figure it, if only 1/3 of the World's team can be high school graduates, it is going to be graduates against graduates, and high schoolers against high schoolers for positions on the team. There may be some high school contenders for graduate spots, but only if they are truly exceptional.

It's a shame Zyg didn't make it, I always enjoyed playing him; he's always smiling and having fun. I enjoy being on the field even more when I'm playing with or against someone like Zyg.

Anyway, I feel it was unfair to single me out as the reason Zyg didn't get picked.

About Andrew Ip:
"Biggest mistake? wasting a year of eligibility by going to Penn State, which is still suspended until at least next year i believe?"

I believe I need to comment about the state of Penn State ultimate. First of all, many of us freshmen "committed" to Penn State before word of the suspension became official. I had intended on going to Penn State long before Sectionals when the team was informed about the suspension. Additionally, there are many other factors that go into a college decision - money, program strength, location, size, and so on. While ultimate played a role in my decision, I had made my choice to enroll at Penn State believing that the team would function normally (the suspension not having been known yet) and for money and program strength reasons. I can't speak for Andrew, I don't know why his reasons for attending Penn State were, but you can hardly say going to Penn State was a mistake by us.

Also, the team is working hard to return for next season. We are currently allowed to play in tournaments as a club team and will be participating in just as many tournaments as a normal collegiate team this spring. We will not be able to compete in the UPA College Series, but we will be able to still compete and improve for future seasons.

lemme clarify - biggest mistake in terms of college ultimate career. when so many players return to a school merely to play a 5th year as a grad student, it seems that time spent using a year of eligibility without being able to compete as a college team is a mistake.

i was not infering that attending penn state as a school in any way is a mistake, rather solely in the forum of collegiate ultimate eligibility. if anyone took it otherwise - apologies.

the situation you guys are in with the school sucks, i hate to see any team out for any reason. especially one (field damage) which apparently you all already paid for and then some ($$ and community service). that a school wont even listen to or reason with a student organization is completely rediculous.

Stephen Panasci- one of the best players in NJ, he has great D and is fast cutter. On top of that he is probably when of the most spirited players coming out of CHS.

Ryan Schwartz-Big man with good throws is playing a ton of points at Duke and really helping that prog turn into something.

Ryan Thompson- great athlete helped CHS play well at easterns with his solid D and agressive play.

Oliver Hondred- A big man who is young, but smart. He is a force in the air and will make a great addition to Darden in the back field.

George Stubbs-Anyone who plays for a top Club team at nationals as a junior in high school should make the juniors worlds team.

Grant Lindsley- Solid cutter who plays hard nosed D. Grant really can run for days and will layout when ever it is needed.

Eli Friedman- Any freshman who is good enough to make the Colorado A team and get a good amount of PT for them should be good enough to make the USA team.

Robin Stewart- He played for twisted metal and has helped Amherst win several titles with his solid throws and amazing mark.

Michael Rubin- Is helping Maryland rebuild. He is short but a super fast handler who makes the right choices and never gives up.

Dan Buglion- The only bright spot to scarsdale last year. Dan did everything he could to keep scarsdale afloat last year.

I believe that Adam Stern from Beacon also was invited to tryouts. Adam is Beacon's captain this year. Amazing defender, excellent offensive skills and all-around player. Can guard players five and six inches taller than he is effectively. I believe he's handling for Beacon this year, but he also is a fantastic middle cutter who can get open in or out and then make the big throws from the middle position.
