Top Open Team

Lets just assume that both Northwest and Amherst are going to both apply for bids at this year's Westerns and Easterns (I hope so), be accepted (better be), keep seed Saturday (more than likely), win the whole thing on Sunday (pretty probable), then what would happen if they met together lets say somewhere in middle america to play for a national title at the end of May 2007?

Who do you think would win knowing what you know?

oh, come on guys! are we really going to have to fly somewhere to prove it to you?

why don't you throw in the top four teams like with the girls?

I dont know much about High School Ultimate in the West, but i wouldn't be too sure that Amherst is the best team on the East Coast this year. And my intentions in this post are not to talk trash on Amherst, because they of course a have great program that continues to prove its dominence. But the fact is, until they play Paideia and Pennsbury, i wouldn't name them the best team.

yeah, I think saying just Amherst and Northwest is a little brief.

What about Pennsbury, Paideia, Hopkins, Alameda, and Memorial? Could they contend? Are there other teams out there that are going to make a strong appearance?

How do people see HS teams stacking up this year?

i can tell you that you should always consider hopkins a contender, they took amherst to half and despite what the score of last years national championship game they played tough and just a few points got away from them. Look for them to be tough

unfortunately, dPolls (the program used to creat these polls) only allows 7 options... otherwise i would have put in the top 4 from each Westerns and Easterns tournaments from last year...

Does anyone know if Paidea is considering coming to Easterns in the spring?

the dactyls beat princeton at kat in the hat, so id say that would make them number 9 by "anonymous's" top ten.

What about Madison West?

With all respect to the dactyls that game was won on universe point and it was the first games of the season, so i don't think that since the dactyls won, they should be above us purely based on that score. It was a great game, but the teams were fairly even. Princeton was able to score 10 against Peyote, which is why i think we were able to get the 9 spot.

Pterodactyls are not top ten, their probably not top 30. There are a lot of middle of the pack teams that you just can't speculate on rankings.

Madison West will also probably be a good team, in the top ten.

I'd like to know what Anonymous bases his top ten rankings on. Is it upa rri? or what?

Anonymous said...

seeing as how their pretty inaccurate, probably word of mouth

sorry for seeming pretentious, anonymous, our team has come a long way since it's inception.
beating princeton just seemed valid this year, even universe point, since they ripped us apart last fall, 19-3.

I don't think anyone should be allowed to post until they master the subtelties of "their, "they're", and "there".

Anonymous said...

Or in my case, "subtelties" vs "subtleties"

Since when are games played to 19?
But seriously, teams have changed a lot since last year--Amherst lost mad homies, and Paideia/Pennsbury/Columbia got older and only lost a few players. Probably true of other teams also. Seems to early to call to me.

rumor has it paideia's graduation is the same weekend as easterns.

Anonymous said...

rumor also has it that pennsbury has a Sr. Prom

The real test of the spring will be Paideia Cup and Amherst Invitational since one of the three east coast powerhouses will be missing Easterns.
